Arctic Classic Meet Entries

I will be handing out a meet entry form for the swimmers to return to me by Friday December 18th, please choose two individual events that you would like to swim at this meet. Down below the events are listed to choose from.

100 Fly
100 Free
500 Free (girls qualifying time= 6:50, boys qualifying time= 6:20)
100 Back
100 Breast
* Please note that for the 500s there is a qualifying time for boys and girls.

CLOSED PRACTICES

Mifflin County High School Swim team practices are CLOSED to all parents until the end of practice. Parents may wait out in the lobby until the completion of practice at 5:30. Thank you for your cooperation.

Meet the Huskies Night

Our team will be introduced to the community tonight at the girl's varsity basketball game. Between practice and the start of the basketball game (7:30) the team will be going to Francy Becker's house to eat pasta. Her address was sent out in a remind 101 message. Swimmers need to be there wearing the new shirts they just got. After our team is introduced at half time swimmers may leave the game if they want.

Thanksgiving Break Practices

There will be practice next Monday and Tuesday morning!
Next Monday- 9:30-11:00

Christmas Break Breakfast

On Tuesday, December 28 the team will have breakfast after practice. Jen Neavling has volunteered her house for us to host it at. I have had two parents volunteer to help with food etc. if I could get two more that would be great! Please let me know through email: gsm36@mcsdk12.org.

Announcements

• The schedule has been updated with the Altoona swim meet and the practice times for Thanksgiving break and Christmas break. Keep checking in on the calendar as events are added!
• Over Christmas break after the morning practice on Tuesday I would like the team to get together and have breakfast together. If we could get a group of parents together that would be willing to organize this and possibly host the breakfast at their house please let me know if you would be willing.
• If you are interested in being a captain, tomorrow before practice you will stand up and introduce yourself and give the team some reasons why you would make a good captain. The team will have the weekend to think about it and then will vote on Monday.

Start of the Season and Shuttle Bus info

Good Afternoon!
The first day of the season begins on Monday, November 16th! Remember that beginning on Monday practices are MANDATORY. If you are at a club meeting of some sort you will need to get a note from the club adviser stating that you were present, if you have a doctors appointment, you will need to bring in a doctor's excuse, if you are sick you will need to bring in a note from the parent stating that you were sick. I have posted the shuttle information below:

Paperwork for the swim season

The paperwork for the swim season is due today! For any athlete who did not do a fall sport you must fill out all of the paperwork that was handed out at the swim team meeting and get a physical done. If you participated in a fall sport you will need to fill out section 7 and the HIPPA form.

Husky Awards Ceremony

The Husky Award Ceremony will take place on Tuesday, May 12, at 7 pm in the MCHS auditorium.

Picture Day

Today is picture day! For high school districts, YMCA districts and the homeless shelter that we raised money for. It will be happening between 3:30 and 4 pm today at the beginning of practice.

Mid penn plunge cancelled

I received word from Mr. Shoemaker today that do to the forecast of 1-3 inches of snow, and snow squalls, and blowing and drifting, we are going to have to cancel our trip to the polar plunge tomorrow :(

Polar Plunge Saturday Feb. 14

Good Morning! I hope you all received the good news that we don't have to leave the high school until 7 am on Saturday now. Our warm up time is at 9 and the meet starts at 10 am.

Swim Meets this week

Tomorrow our swim meet is against Hollidaysburg at Hollidaysburg high school. Bus is leaving at 1;15, the meet starts at 4. We are dressing up for tomorrow's meet. The swim meet will take place at the high school. The address is: 1510 N Montgomery Street, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648. We will be stopping to eat on the way home.

Tuesday is our meet against Tyrone and our senior meet. Seniors make sure you get your biography questionnaires handed in tomorrow! Husky attire on Tuesday. Be on deck by 4:45, warm ups begin at 5 and the meet starts at 6 pm.

One last thing! Keep selling those salads!!! If each swimmer sells at least 15 salads we will reach our goal for this fundraiser!!!

Next week

We have two swim meets next week. Monday we have an away meet against Holidaysburg. Swimmers are required to dress up for this meet. The bus will be leaving at 1:15 from the HIGH SCHOOL. Our warm ups begin at 3:30 and go until 4 and the meet starts at 4. Tuesday our swim meet is against Tyrone. It is a home meet and starts at 6 pm. Husky attire will be worn for that meet. Swimmers will need to be on deck by 4:45 to prepare for warm ups at 5. Next Saturday is the Polar Plunge. More information will be given on the Polar Plunge as we get closer.

Swim Meet tomorrow

Our swim meet tomorrow has turned into a tri- meet against Bellefonte and Central Mountain. The meet starts at the same time 6 pm. Swimmers need to be on deck by 4:45 for stretching and warm up.

Swim meet cancelled

The swim meet is cancelled due to inclement weather. The Y pool is open until 1:15. It is closed 1:15 to 4 pm and then open again from 4-9 pm. Anyone who is a YMCA member can swim during the times the pool is open. We will hopefully be rescheduling the Bellefonte meet. I will keep you updated. We still have our meet against Central Mountain on Saturday starting at 6 pm. Stay safe everyone!

Next Week 1/26-1/31

We have a busy week coming up next week! The schedule is as follows:
Tuesday, January 27th: Away meet against Hershey. The meet starts at 4 pm. I will give you details on what time the bus will leave etc. when I get that information. This will be a dress up day.
Thursday, January 29th: Home meet against Bellefonte at 6 pm.
Saturday, January 31st: Home meet against Central Mountain at 6 pm.

Friday 1/23 Basketball game

At this Friday’s home boys’ basketball game, we will be offering free admission to any MCHS student, male or female, who participates in Winter sports….Basketball, Wrestling, or Swimming.  

Fundraiser

We got a new fundraiser together! We handed out fundraising order forms to some of you on Friday. If you did not receive one yet please come see me on deck to get one.

Swim Meet on Tuesday 1/20

Our swim meet on Tuesday is against Central Dauphin. The meet will start at 6 pm so our warm up time will be the same as it usually is (be on deck by 4:45 for stretching, warm ups start at 5). Wear husky apparel on Tuesday.

Swim Meets this week

We have two swim meets this week. Tuesday is an away meet in Carlisle against Carlisle and Central Dauphin East. Not everyone will be going to this meet because we only get two lanes for this meet. The bus leaves at 4 pm to get there and the meet starts at 7 pm. I would like all swimmers attending tomorrow's meet to dress up for it. Thursday's meet is  home meet and we are going to try to get it to start as close to 6 as we can. Swimmers should report on deck by 4:45 for stretching. Thursday's dress code will be husky attire. We also will not be having Thursday morning practice because we have a meet that night.
